The Ultimate Skybox || Downtown San Diego Wedding Photography

Stephen & Melissa

They had the sweetest ceremony centered around God and music and then went on to the most incredibly fun reception with hilarious toasts, their beloved Padres playing at Petco Park in the background, fantastic food, and all the dancing.

Really every little detail spoke of love and care and them. Their officiant was a pastor that has been a mentor to Stephen for several years so when he centered the wedding discussion around music no one was surprised.

Their family and guests could not have been more fun. In that photo below? Yes- that bridesmaid’s feet are literally off the ground.

That view: if you’re getting married at The Ultimate Skybox you do it in part for the oportunity for your shyer guests the have an activity and your sports fans to be able to watch the game for the joy of it- but that’s only 20% of the plan. Mostly you do it for the incredible view. The backdrop of twilight sky and a city just waking up to the night life in conjunction with a white dress? Gorgeous.

Total goofballs- you had better believe they were reciting lines from Titanic as they stood arms spead in the center image….

The above two dances were sweet, fun, and without awkward restraint-purely joyful. The next set of images is where the magic comes in though. My clients are the best, really. See Stephen has a mother he loves dearly and a wonderful step mother that helped to raise him and he wanted to honor as well- what to do for the Mother/Son dance? Dance with them both of course! He danced with his mother, and then his mother in law cut in right on cue where the two embraced and thanked each other for tag teaming such a great kid, and his step mother finished out the dance. It was the stuff happy tears are made of. Of course not to be left out his father decided that if everyone was dancing with the groom he was not to be left out; he got in on the action with hilareous results. Such a wonderful example of taking what could be a tricky situation and turning it into something beautiful.

The rest of the night was great food by Toast that consisted of tacos, sliders, and a surprise pasta that totally stole the show and was incredible. A hilarious toast by the best man, (brothers are the best), a sweet one by the maid of honor, and the yummiest donuts and cake by VG Donuts.

Fun being had

And dancing, alllllll the dancing. I may be one of those photographers that is out there with everyone- because when your song comes on…I bring my camera.

In a quiet moment where not a ton was going on I stole the bride and groom away to get this fun little series- because EVERYTHING has potential, even a semi drab elevator. Also the second set in black and white is one of my favorites- so much character

Everyone wishes for a wedding day that perfectly sums up the two of them- these two pulled it off. Subscribe to our feed below or just come back next week to see more on the “First look/No first look” debate from someone who has seen both sides of the story multiple times.

That’s what she said…

“You are so good at taking photos that I have overlooked from the wedding and making them so special and sweet. “ - Melissa
