So San Diego is arguably one of the top epicenters of all things lovely...and Pigment is just one more feather in that cap. It seems every time I mention the name those around me crow "Ooooo, I love that place- everything is so pretty. I want everything in that whole store!" Ha, strong opinions to say the least.
Well I get the pleasure of hanging out in their studio and rubbing shoulders with some of the artists that come to teach their weekend workshops while I photograph, and of course get to watch, said workshops.
This one was a paper flower workshop taught by Sara Kim from "Handmade By Sara Kim." Now I come from the school of thought that "art“ and “craft“ are extremely different things and well, I am an artist through and through, but crafting is really not my cup of tea. I went into this workshop with one eyebrow raised-and I came out with both eyebrows raised.
Her flowers are stunning works of art. Elegant pieces that you can keep, and from a yard or two of distance might trick the eye and lead you to believe they are the real thing. In any case, they’re beautiful. If the one's you see on here are not proof enough, go check out her website. Take a look at her wedding florals, they’re just flooring.
Add to that Sara herself who is sweet and fun and patient while still keeping the class moving along quickly...
And then there’s cheese and wine – did you hear that? Cheese, Venissimo's at that, along with all the other yummy things they put on their boards and wine to sip with it.
If you’re looking for the perfect bachelorette party, or birthday gift, or afternoon out, or afternoon on your own, really any excuse you can think of, get in here and sit in Pigment's bright urban jungle while they pamper you with food and fun people and delightful classes and let you walk out feeling like a class A artist. Tis’ lovely.
